Five+ Ways to Make Money from Home

Don’t forget to check out Selling On Poshmark: Simple Tips To Increase Sales.

2009 was the year I made the decision to work from home and make some money.

Yes, I still wanted to find a job and make a career out of it, but I also wanted to be able to save money and pay down my student loans.

I discovered websites that allowed me to write articles for a fee when I was learning how I could make money online. Although it wasn’t much, it was the beginning of my dream to create a blog.

Now, fast forward to the summer 2014: Chase the Write Dream was born.

You’ve probably experienced it all, and while a lot can happen in five years, I have never lost my desire for more income. We all want to be debt-free, have fun, and give back to those who have helped us.

Many of us are facing a financial wall that is almost impossible to break.

It’s my student loans debt.

You’ve likely seen me mention student loans if you’ve read my blog. They are a pain in the neck.

That’s why I continue to look for ways to make money at home, in addition to my regular job.

How to make money at home

It has not been easy, but I wouldn’t lie if I said so. There are days when I don’t feel motivated to do the extra work.

There are always excuses not to do it…but I also know that I cannot expect to reap the benefits unless I put in the effort.

You are probably in the same place I am. You desire financial freedom, or you wish to be able work from home as you are unhappy with your job.

Before I begin my list of make money at home recommendations, I want to make a few points.

  1. Use your strengths to propel yourself.
  2. You should research everything as there are many scams!
  3. Do not give up even if the money isn’t flowing immediately. These things can take some time.

Some options allow you to make extra money immediately, while others may take longer. This is something you should keep in mind as your work progresses up the list.

Okay, let’s go!

Start a blog

Chase the Write Dream was a dream that I had for a while. It opened my eyes to new ways to learn how to make money online.

It is not easy to start a blog. It might actually be the most difficult thing on the list. This is because it requires skills such as setting up a site (some knowledge of HTML/CSS would be helpful), social media management and social media marketing, communication, writing getting to the point, and advertising.

While I admit that it is hard, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me. Without him, it would have been difficult for me to land a job in an influencer marketing agency. This was something I was extremely excited about.

If you are serious about your blogging journey, I recommend that you get your own domain. In my post, Easy Steps to Starting a Blog, I have detailed how to do that as well as some simple tips to help you get started.

Affiliate for the products that you love

Amazon Associates – Who doesn’t love Amazon! You can become an Amazon affiliate and link to any product on Amazon. If someone makes a purchase via that link within 24 hours, they get a small portion of the sale. This comes at no cost to customers and can add up quickly. These links can be shared on social media and/or blogs. However, it is important to disclose them correctly so that you don’t get in trouble. The current payment threshold for $10.

Share a Sale – While there are many affiliate platforms, I love ShareASale for its wide selection and large number of merchants. There are many companies that sell all kinds of products, so there is no shortage of sales opportunities. Amazon is a great example of this: you only get a small portion of every sale.

As a freelancer, you can start writing

Hubpages – Anyone can join HubPages. You can write about any topic you like. HubPages’s payment system is based on how many visitors your posts receive. The more traffic you get, the greater your revenue. You can reach the $50 threshold if you have several good posts that drive traffic.

I would love to get to know – The website has a stricter writing process. You will need to apply and complete a trial period in which a senior editor will look over your work. You will need to select from the titles available and do more research. You can make anywhere from $25 to $60 for each item, which is the good news!

Do your homework

Chore work is one of the most popular ways to make money at home. These sites allow me to log in, do multiple tasks, and then have more than $10 available for cashing out the next night. Some tasks are very simple like taking a survey, finding something via a Google search or writing a post. To unlock the amount of tasks that you are eligible, you can take qualifying tests!

These are two sites that I recommend for this kind of work:

There are other ways you can make money at home.

Other ways to earn money from home

ebates- Many people know Ebates to be the site that offers cash back on eligible purchases through their app or site. But did you know that referrals can earn you money?

That’s right. For referring three people, you can earn $75 in most quarters. This is quite a lot of money, if you ask my friends! There are no referral limits so your earning potential is unlimited! Swagbucks You can get your money in as little as a week. To earn swagbucks , you can take surveys, watch videos and shop online. These can be used to redeem for PayPal gift cards, merchandise and cash.

five Do have a skill that you would like to make some extra money? Create a Fiverr account! It’s possible to set up any type of service: photos, logos, writing, research and resumes.

Upwork –Upwork is another site that allows you to apply for jobs. There are many jobs available, including web design, graphic design and writing. Although it is not easy to start, there are many freelancers who make a good living here. It’s worth it!

Open an account with a bank – This method isn’t super traditional. If you are eligible and meet the offer guidelines, this could be a good fit. This is where you open an account, deposit a certain amount into the account, then leave it open for at least 90 days or until the bank closes it. You can earn rewards from $150 up to $500

Take surveys The Penny Hoarder has a great article on this topic: Top survey sites to make extra money

This post is just a starting point for making money online. There are many more opportunities! You’ll discover that there are many more opportunities once you’ve gotten your feet under you and become familiar with online work.

Let me know if you give any of these a try!
